Pagi has a unique history too. When the Cretan village of Chandakas was occupied by the Turks in
the 17th century, its residents moved to the Corfiot village of nearby Pagi or Pagoi. The area had
been settled since Roman times, according to the findings of the National Archaeological Service.
There are relics of the Georgantas mansion, which dates back to the Venetian period when Pagi was
an administration centre, and also the Synadinos mansion with its military emblems.
Although small, the history is tangible in the very walls of the houses and mansions. We strongly recommend you park and walk into the village - All this information was kindly supplied from the books written by Steve Ford and the money raised from sales of these goes to Corfu Charities.
