A breath taking sight to visit. Was unknown except for the locals and cleared during the pandemic, by the group called ΓΙΑΡΔΑ ' Yard.
The Group which translates to “Yard” – The road of water is less than a year old. Its main goal is to promote the way of the water from Benitses to Corfu Town through the path across the aqueduct. The buildings are to be restored and the creation of a small museum. Their efforts are aiming to have an alternative sustainable tourist attraction to all the areas the route passes through.
The water flow started from the areas of Stavros at Agioi Deka. Tunnels were made inside the bottom of the mountain (Agioi Deka) in order to achieve sufficient water flow, this area is known as the “YARDY”, which is due to it being a yard wide.
Water was then distributed from Benitses to Corfu Town originally through a brick tunnel and then through a metal pipe 35 cm wide, passing under and over land, with the use of bridges and aqueducts to reach Perma and the water tanks and dome.
