The National poet of Greece, Dionysios Solomos, lived for the greater part of his life here on the island of Corfu. Although this house was destroyed during the war it has been restored and now houses the most important exhibits of the poet’s writing desk and an autograph manuscript with a passage from “The Free Besieged”. The museum library owns an extensive bibliographical collection and on display is a collection of photographs related to the places, the people and the events of Solomos’ life, work and period.
