Believed to date back to 200 AD. you can still see the heating chamber as well as the hypocaust, which is an open space below a floor that is heated by gases from a fire or furnace below and that allows the passage of hot air to heat the room above and clearly reveals a high degree of craftsmanship, as there is a significant feature of a mosaic tiled floor.
Constructed by Emperor Septimus Severus when he reigned supreme in Corfu, the Roman baths were ruined in the sixth century. There are other Roman Baths here on corfu which can be found in the South East fishing village of Benitses and in the North, in Acharavi.
