A statue of politician Giorgos Theotokis is located at the Saint Spiridon Square - officially Platia Iroon Kypriakou Agona.
He was the third child of Corfiote Nikolaos Andreas Theotokis. Once receiving his law degree and studies in Paris he came back to work as a lawyer in Corfu. In 1879 he took part in the municipal elections and was elected mayor, in 1883 he was re-elected but took up the invitation to become a member of the Hellenic Parliament, where in 1886 became minister of Naval affairs. From 1903 to 1909 he became the Prime Minister of Greece three more times. Among his many achievements he adapted the Karki uniforms for the army.
