Located in the Holy Monastery of Platytera, in the Mantouki area, on the outskirts of Corfu town. Count Ioannis Kapodistrias (1776 – 1831) A descended from an aristocratic family and as governor of Greece, served as first governor of Greece during the transitional period and promoted significant reforms to rebuild the Greek state. He was assassination on the steps of the St Spyridon church in Nafplio which was the capital of the Greek state at this time. His corpse then returned to the family here on Corfu.
