Giannades is situated in the central west area of Corfu, connected with the national road to
Paleokastrista. Corfu Town is 20km away and the nearest resort is Ermones. The population is around
760 and agriculture is the main income here. Giannades is a quiet village frequented by artists for its
secluded spot. There is a butcher, a bakery, post office, medical help, mini markets, restaurants, a bar,
a school, kindergarden and a theatre. Although not all are open all year round.
The Church here is devoted to Saint Nicholas and is accessed by several steps upward and through
an arched gateway. To the left you can view the well kept cemetery with it’s white marble epitaphs
      that sit below the wall.
You can also buy fresh fish and vegetables from the merchants; who pass by daily with their trucks,
announcing their arrival with their loudspeakers.

Giannades village has his own secret beach named Yali. It is a small bay just behind the hill, which is
reachable by a path or by boat. But don’t tell anyone....it’s a secret.
Although only 150 metres high on a hill the views from the square overlooking the Ropa Valley are
beautiful. You can sit on a large raised amphitheatre like area made of stone and drink a Greek cup of
coffee from the café behind you.
Across the road is a tap where you can fill up your bottle with fresh mountain water before heading
off to the next village. All this information was kindly supplied from the books written by Steve Ford and the money raised from sales of these goes to Corfu Charities.
