This area of the Old Fort was featured in the ITV show The Durrells. It is where the "ferry" to the mainland docks and also where Larry met Captain Creech at the "taverna" (which doesn't actually exist).
The Contra Fossa which separated the Old Fortress from Corfu town and built from 1576 till 1588 from Venetians Michele Sanmicheli & Ferante Vitelli after the siege of the Ottomans in 1537.
