The Daffodil Yellow Villa - Villa Anemoyianni

The Daffodil Yellow Villa or Villa Anemoyianni as it is known, is located in the area of Sotiriotissa, close to Kontokali. In September1935 after a short rent on the Perama villa, this became Durrell families second home and where they meet Lugaretzia
The house is beautifully immortalised in My family and Other Aanimals. From here the family and Theo would watch the seaplanes land on Gouvia Bay. Just a few months later Lawrence and Nancy moved out after finding an old fisherman's cottage in Kalami, which is now famously known as "The White House". although continuing to visit the rest of the family here at Sotiriotissa.

Down by the sea the wooden jetty used by the Durrells is gone, as are, of course, those good ships the Sea Cow and Bootle-Bumtrinket which tied up there. But the sea remains the same, and the islands off-shore still form an "enchanted" area of crystal-clear waters in which to swim, sail, and explore

In September 1937 Louisa decided to move the family back to Perama, to the rather exquisite and noble Villa Cressida, the 'Snow-White Villa' The house is a private villa and cannot be visited, and now cannot be seen from the main road anymore.
